Stress can be a major factor in your life, in order to take control of your life and overcome some of the stress, you need to evaluate what can be changed or how you can manage the stress levels.
I am wrting as an ex health trainer for the NHS ( and crisis counsellor and mediator) many of my clients have such a problem not being able to move forward in their life because of obstacles this could be anything from low self esteem, bad health, finances, jobs etc.
So I would like to share one of the exercises that may enable you to change things for the better, this may encourage you to be bold and take control.
This exercise can be done very quickly and all you need is a pen and paper.
First divide paper into four sections and on each sections write four headings.HEALTH, JOB, FAMILY AND FRIENDS, FINANCES.
Now under each heading write three questions. What do I want to change? Why? How will I do it?
Under Health, if you are depressed or stressed or ill, write down exactly how you are feeling, Why and what you want to change?
If you are depressed you need to write down under the first heading why and then decide what you want to do. You may need to go to Doctor or change something in your life, it could be cutting down you hours or changing job. Be honest and bold. If you have nothing written down congratulations you are free from Stress in this area of your life.
If not, it may well be small changes in your life that is needed.

Your Job is the second title. Do the same with the questions and explore what the problem is. How can you resolve it, maybe you need to consider, reducing hours, changing career or becoming self employed. (if the stress from the job comes too much you will probably become ill so now is the time to consider change)
Thirdly family and friends, if the other subjects have become unbalanced it may be that you have little time for family and friends.
So having the balance of your life will improve the quality and famiy life. If having to do the shopping and cleaning, delegate or arrange shopping online.
Fourthly finances is this causing you a problem, write down all yor ingoing and outgoings and see what you can save. For insance do you have time for gym or movie club. If not cancel and reactivate at a later stage.
Review all areas of your life and when you have made changes, they wll seem more balanced and you will feel less stressed. It takes courage to do these things, but your health and wellbeing will improve.
Maslow stated that unless your basic needs are met, then you can't go on to higher self actualisation. So sorting out the basics will give you time and energy to do other things.
